Colts vs. Bears Week 1 Analysis

Will Andrew Luck live up to all of the hype? His rookie season officially starts this Sunday when the Indianapolis Colts travel to the Windy City to play the Chicago Bears as hefty underdogs in Week 1.

This will be a stern test for Luck in his first taste of the real deal.

The number one pick in the draft, Luck has the weight of the world on his shoulders, especially since he’s taking over for a legend in the state of Indianapolis. Many think Luck has all the attributes necessary to be a special talent in this league, so we’ll see soon enough if that will hold true.

At least Luck will have some solid receivers to get the ball too in his rookie season.

Reggie Wayne is still in town. Even though he’s starting to get up there in age, he still remains one of the most talented wideouts in the NFL and he’ll be a great person for Luck to learn from. Austin Collie is dealing with numerous concussions, but there’s still Donnie Avery and rookie tight end Coby Fleener to rely on. Fleener and Luck had a great connection in their college days at Stanford.

This Colts defense is also an extremely young unit, though Dwight Freeney and Robert Mathis are two of the better pass rushers you’re bound to find in the NFL.

It will assuredly be difficult for Indianapolis to keep Jay Cutler, Matt Forte and Brandon Marshall in check throughout the full 60 minutes this weekend.

Surely a majority of the NFL picks for this clash will be in the Chicago Bears favor and for good reason. The future is looking bright for the Colts, but it’s going to take at least a year or two before they can be considered relevant again in this league.
